Short answers to the questions luxury cruisers ask us.
Talk to a Luxury Cruise ConsultantLuxury Cruise Consultant FAQ
How far ahead should I contact a luxury cruise consultant?
For popular suites, holiday sailings and long voyages, a year or more ahead is common. Shorter-notice trips are possible, but the best suites go first.
Can a consultant help if I already have a booking with a line?
Sometimes a booking made directly can be transferred to an agency within a limited window after booking. Each line has its own rules, so ask early.
Will a consultant push the line that pays them most?
Commission on most luxury lines is broadly similar, and a consultant who sends you on the wrong ship loses your next booking. Still, ask why each line is on your shortlist.
Do I need travel insurance for a luxury cruise?
It is strongly advised, given the cost of the trip and of medical care at sea; for how cancellation and medical cover work on a cruise, see Cruise & Travel Insurance.
Are luxury cruises worth the money?
That depends on how much of the fare you would otherwise spend on extras, and on how much you value space and service. Cruising First Class explains how to compare value fairly.
Can a consultant arrange a celebration on board?
Consultants can pass special-occasion requests to the line, such as anniversaries or birthdays. What the line provides is up to the line.
What does a consultation cost?
Our consultations are free. Cruise lines pay the agency when you book.
Can a consultant help with a world cruise or a long grand voyage?
Yes. Long voyages need more planning: visas for several countries, segments you can join or leave, luggage for many climates and insurance for a long trip. A consultant works through each.
What should I tell a consultant in the first conversation?
Your dates or travel window, who is travelling, past trips you loved or disliked, any mobility or dietary needs, and a rough idea of your budget for the whole trip.
Can a consultant compare a luxury line with a suite on a bigger ship?
Yes, and they should if both could suit you. A suite enclave on a large ship offers more activities; a small luxury ship offers more intimacy and often more included.
Do luxury lines welcome first-time cruisers?
Very much so. Many luxury guests come from land-based luxury travel rather than other cruises. A consultant explains how life on board works before you go.
How do I request a luxury cruise quote?
Use the free quote form and mention that you are looking at luxury lines.
